Your Book Is a Part of Your Legacy

There are so many reasons for which you will be remembered when you finally leave this life.

It might be that you raised kind, loving children who were encouraged to listen to their hearts and follow their dreams.

It might be that you created your own wicked version of sticky lemon cake and now that recipe is being handed down to each new generation of your family.

It might be that you started and grew a meaningful business that empowered women and made you an inspirational role model to your children.

It might be that you planted beautiful trees that will grow tall and strong long after you have gone.

It might be that you nurtured friendships with love and enriched the lives of those dear friends beyond measure.

It might be that you amassed a portfolio of investments that set up your family for generations and that donate large amounts to causes in which you believe strongly.

It might be that you took photos or created artworks that made people feel alive.

Just by living your everyday life you are leaving a legacy, but when you listen to the pull of your intuition and do things that feel right to you, the impact of your legacy is amplified.

Not everyone feels drawn to writing and publishing a book, but if you do, then… YOU KNOW ABOUT IT. The tug doesn’t go away, even when you try to ignore it.

Your book can be a vivid, lasting, life-affirming part of your legacy.

When I think back to the books I’ve written, I wonder how many lives have been affected by them.

I also wonder what my potential grandchildren will think of them.

I remember a distant friend from high school (who didn’t know I’d written books) telling me that her daughter had brought home a book from the school library. My friend had been surprised to see my name on the cover and a photo of me and my daughters on the back.

That was pretty fun to hear… 😊

I wonder how many times my recipe books have been opened by excited children, with them using a recipe for the very first time and getting to eat or drink the (hopefully) delicious results? Who knows how many went on to develop a love of cooking?

I wonder how many women have been affected by my story in the anthology Embraced by the Divine, with the story being just one of the things that helped them along their own healing journeys?

Think about books you’ve read that changed the way you think and act. Here are a few examples of influential non-fiction books written by women over the years, from a variety of fields:

  • The Silent Spring by Rachel Carson
  • Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach
  • Daring Greatly by Brené Brown
  • The Cook’s Companion by Stephanie Alexander
  • Grit by Angela Duckworth
  • We Should All Be Millionaires by Rachel Rodgers

Your name might one day be included in a list like this. Why NOT you?

Your book (whether in printed, electronic or audio form) is a tangible legacy that will send out deep ripples and make the world a better place. Let me help you to make it shine!
